Liposomal Cordyceps Mushroom (60ml)

Traditionally used to help herders high in the Himalayas combat the dangers of altitude sickness, Cordyceps are now being seen as a powerful tool to support athletic performance – naturally. Recent studies have linked these seemingly unassuming fungi to a boost in aerobic performance, an increase in VO2 max and combating fatigue.

We’ve gone away and taken this already powerful supplement further and encapsulated it within a Liposomal bubble. Increasing how effectively it is absorbed, and increasing it’s availability in your blood stream.

What are the benefits of a Cordyceps Mushrooms?

There is quite a significant amount of data that supports a very long list of well-being and performance benefits of Cordyceps.

Originally, the mushrooms were noticed by Yak herders in the Himalayas who noticed the Yaks who ate this mushroom, could travel higher up the mountains.

More recent studies showed that the fungi can support the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) which delivers energy into our muscles, and can improve our VO2 max (lung capacity/efficiency) by up to 7%.[source]

There is also evidence that Cordyceps are a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and improve gut health.

How do we make our Cordyceps more bioavailable (so easily absorbed)?

The Cordyceps mushroom within each bottle has been encapsulated within Liposomes. These are fatty bubble made up of lipids (fats). They resemble the building blocks that make the cells wall in our digestive system.

Liposomes create a ‘shield’ for the delicate Cordyceps compounds that protect them from the harsh environment in our gut, and allow the compounds to be seamlessly delivered into our blood stream.

The encapsulation makes the Cordyceps Mushroom absorbed exponentially better. Better for you & better for your brain!

The data!

Up to 250% more bioavailable* compared to 'naked' Cordyceps.

The bioavailability of traditional ‘naked’ cordyceps is low, and their half-life is also very short in the body. It severely limits the therapeutic benefits of the Cordyceps Mushrooms. It is estimated that Liposomes can increase the bioavailability of a bioactive by 400%Not only do Liposomes increase the amount of bioactives in your bloodstream, but they stay there for significantly longer – some say up to 1000% longer.

More protection in the gut!

The active compounds in Cordyceps mushrooms are quite delicate and are easily degraded by our digestive system. When the Cordyceps is encapsulated within a Liposomal bubble, it is given a fatty ‘shield’ which helps it survive. Some suggest that Liposomes make substances up to 10x more protective, meaning more of the bioactive is absorbed, over a longer period of time.

While they may seem like a recent trend, fungi have been integral to Chinese traditional remedies for centuries, long before the modern wellness movement. Fungi offer significant health benefits, with Cordyceps Sinensis (also known as Caterpillar Mushroom/Fungus, Yatsa Gunbu, Yarshagumba, Keera Jhar, or Dong Chong Xia Cao, meaning “Winter Worm, Summer Grass” in Chinese) being particularly notable.

The Cordyceps Mushroom, often referred to as such, is not actually a mushroom but a parasitic fungus with a unique origin. It grows on and within insect larvae, replacing the host tissue and producing long stems that outgrow the host’s body. The image below illustrates this: the host (a yellowish insect body) and the fungi itself (a long dark strand). This type of cordyceps is known as a ‘fruiting body.’

The fungi, along with the insect remains, are collected and ground up. In traditional Chinese medicine, cordyceps mushrooms have been used to address a range of health issues, including fatigue, illness, kidney function, and even sex drive. Natural cordyceps are extremely rare and cannot be grown artificially, making them particularly expensive. Most cordyceps extracts available today are grown synthetically or sourced differently.

There are over 400 known species of cordyceps, but interest has surged primarily due to two types: Cordyceps Sinensis and Cordyceps Militaris.

As human trials progress, we will gain more insights into the side effects of cordyceps. Currently, there is minimal evidence of negative side effects at low doses, and it is considered non-toxic, especially given its centuries of use in Chinese medicine. However, certain individuals should avoid taking cordyceps supplements:

  • Pregnant or Nursing Individuals: While there is little evidence suggesting cordyceps is unsafe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it is advisable to err on the side of caution.
  • Individuals with Autoimmune Diseases: Cordyceps may enhance immune system activity, potentially exacerbating symptoms of autoimmune conditions.
  • Individuals with Bleeding Disorders or Upcoming Surgery: Cordyceps might slow the clotting process, so it is best avoided if you have a bleeding issue or are scheduled for surgery.

Additionally, there are important considerations regarding potential interactions with certain medications:

  • Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan, Neosar)
  • Immunosuppressive Medications
  • Prednisolone

If in doubt, it is best to check with a trained medical professional.

The time it takes to notice benefits from cordyceps can vary depending on the individual and the specific health goals. Some people may experience improvements in energy and stamina within a few days, while others might require several weeks of consistent use to see significant effects.

These questions and answers should provide potential customers with valuable information about cordyceps mushrooms and help them make informed decisions about your product.
